A Virtual Reality

From 50 leased servers to 4 owned servers with Virtualization
Issue: The Client Company had 50 leased physical servers that were scheduled to come off lease in staggered lease end points. These servers supported everything from user email to business apps. The questions were how to improve supportability, maximize budget, reduce floor space, reduce costs for electrical and cooling, and ultimately improve service levels.

Solution: Our team proposed to migrate from physical unique appliances to a fully virtualized environment. Once approved by the Client, we architected a solution that provided high availability, redundancy, and consolidated backup. The implementation was completed without interruption to server performance and resulted in the migration from 50 leased physical servers to 4 owned, virtualized servers. The business result was a massive savings to the Client's budget and to their support team.
